I'm getting quilt-y....

About a month before duck hunting season opens you'll hear daddy saying "I'm getting birdie."  It's his way of saying how very excited he is to get out and go hunting with the boys.

Well lately I've been getting quilt-y.

It's been several months since I finished my last quilt and it's been since Bug's birthday that I've sewn anything.   I have no idea where I'll find the time but I think I'm reaching a critical mass if I don't.

I originally wanted to start on a blanket for Bug.
But Daddy has inserted his opinion on what pattern and color choice of fabric I should and shouldn't use.  I have no problem with this given that he is a boy and he should have a better idea on what would work best for his boy.  However, the only problem in this is getting Daddy to go to the fabric store with me so I can buy his choices.

In the meantime I started looking through my hodge-podge of a sewing cabinet to see what I can work on in the meantime...
I decided I should probably work on a project involving these guys....

These baby blankets used to belong to another little guy in my life who will be moving this summer to a place that actually has winters.  I thought he might enjoy having something special made by me to help remember us and to keep him warm.

I am thinking this pattern will work.

I am off for now.

Here is what you would really rather see....

around our house

the alphabet is being soaked up...
forts are being made...
chores are being done...
laundry is drying in the sun...
grapes are growing...
the gardening is flourishing...
green beans waiting to be picked....
projects being completed...

new projects are waiting in the wings...
baby is sleeping...

and now it's time for mommy to mop the floors.

Random-ness

Is random-ness a word?  If I said it then probably not.  I am like my father in so many ways.  We seem to make up words as needed, mis-pronounce words all the time, and use big words incorrectly because they sounded cooler.

New and fun things are happening around these parts all the time and because I am SO slow in updating this blog (by 7 weeks) I am now SO far BEHIND!  I want to tell you everything that is happening now because it's happening now and I'm sure you would rather know about Mr. C now at eights weeks old as opposed to the stuff I want to share with you that happened seven weeks ago.  I thought in order to catch us all up I'll share a little of everything in this posting titled Random-ness.

I attempted my own photo shoot when Mr. C when he was a little over a week old.

It went south real quickly.  Bug wanted no part do it and for that matter Mr. C didn't want much to do it with it as well.

Here are my best photos:

With the 2nd child everyone is more comfortable so we took a trip to Phoenix before Mr. C was three weeks old.

I found a great place to store my two year old when he becomes less than pleasant.
Thank you Space Saver!

My two year old has now decided he is in charge of picking out his clothes and I am all for it.  Especially when it embarrasses Daddy and it gets us out of the house without a temper tantrum.

In between sleeping....

 (3 weeks old)

Mr. C. will open his eyes and find...
Bug loving on him.  Or a....
 camera in his face.

Once again I've found out I make big babies...
Mr. C in a 6 month onesie at just under 6 weeks of age.

I also found out that Bug is like his Aunt Kissy when I ask to take his picture.

In case the Space Saver bag fails me...
there is always the dryer.

In the last eight weeks I have witnessed Bug be such an amazing, loving big brother.

I also found out that the sink sprayer doubles as a telephone when you need to call Papa and tell him Mama won't make you "wapples" (waffles) for lunch.

On days when I say "No more Oso" we bring out the paints and markers...
Or we go outside and pick weeds

Now that Mr. C has lost the remainder of his cord he has joined the nightly "swimming" team with
Bug and I.

The warm weather is upon us so if you stop by house be prepared to see naked babies.

Family trips have become a very important part of our lives.

This should be everything expect for Mr. C's welcoming party and our visit from the Easter Bunny.

I'll share those two with you next time because Bug should be here any minute with my mom.

Lots of Love-SL
