traveled

In the months leading up to Princess Pea's birth we were keeping ourselves busy and pushing a few boundaries and limits in doing so.  Take for instance....I firmly held to the belief that my due date was October 18th and the Daddy-O left for his elk hunt on the 17th ~ OR ~ the day I would unknowingly go into labor we were in Phoenix for the day shopping and ultimately my water would end up breaking while do more shopping in Costco on the northwest side of town.  Thank goodness I always carry a few feminine products in my purse for emergencies.

One of the trips we took trying to squeeze it all in was to Pinetop for the Run to the Pines car show.  A friend of ours has some property up there with R.V. hookups so we all packed up and headed there for a long weekend.  The days were a bit warm to the hot side and the evenings and nights were a bit cold and a whole lot of AWESOME!  This property was completely fenced in and had a micro tree house which made for hours of fun.

This picture cracks me up every time.  You see it's almost impossible for the Daddy-O to take a nice, decent picture.  In about 98% of the photos ever taken of him his eyes are always closed.  In this photo his eyes are open but now he has this complete look of shock on his face and the look on Bug's face is almost identical.

It took five tries to get this one....

Here we are along the road in Pinetop watching the parade of cars and waiting for the candy to be thrown.

Seeing "Tom" Mater as a play on words for Tow-Mater from the movie Cars, made this show worth it for the boys.

As with every trip we take to the White Mountains I like to make a point and visit my grandmother's grave.  Although my kids never knew her that doesn't mean I don't want them to know who she is.

This last picture is not the best but I wanted to include it because of its story.  While at the White Mountains we stopped by my grandparents old place.  My grandfather sold this place a few years after my grandmother died.  This home hasn't been apart of our family for maybe 15 or 20 years but it still holds very fond memories for me.  Over the years and through the different owners this home has changed dramatically.  It's currently vacant and on the auction block and I wanted to see the inside just one last time.  I wanted to see for myself what, if anything, was left from how I grew up.  Our only option to get in this house was to send Bug through the doggie-door.  At first it was a joke but when I turned the corner to look through the front door I was shocked to see the Daddy-O and the boys greeting me at the door from the inside.   There are perks to having little kids!

This trip was a great micro-mini vacation.  I think as with most people in southern Arizona we sure do enjoy the northern Arizona cities.  It's nice to get a break from the heat.  This trip though had us starting to consider Pinetop as a stepping stone and primer for the colder weather should our dreams of living in Idaho come true.
